Dutchman Sven Maurits revealed he got the idea for his unorthodox putting stroke from Thomas Bjørn after achieving good results with it on day one of the 2023 KLM Open.
The 35-year-old home favourite got people talking on social media after footage of his birdie at the 17th showed him resting the shaft of his putter against his right arm.
Maurits said: "I've been using this grip for four years now.
"Actually I saw Thomas Bjørn doing it, and I was still struggling with the yips so I tried everything possible.
"I was playing with some guys and I said 'Did you see him on the TV putting?' So I was imitating it and they went in all the time so I kept the grip.
"It was better so it doesn't matter how it looks. If it works, it works."
