The 30-year-old welcomed his first born at the start of the year and is extra motivated to end his three-year title drought at the Wes Lake International Golf and Country Club.

“My little boy, Emile is eight months now. I miss him a lot and he’s growing up so quickly. I leave for two weeks and he’s a different boy. My wife has been taking good care of him and I’m really lucky I can still travel and do my job.

“I want to get to the DP World Tour and keep getting better as a player. It puts things into perspective a little more. Emile, together my family are the most important thing to me,” said Mory.

Mory has four top ten finishes on the Challenge Tour this season and is relishing the challenge of battling for top honours despite his unfamiliarity with the course.

“The course in Sanya was a fun track. We are not used to playing on such grass and golf course back in Europe. So, it’s a good test for us.”

Currently ranked 34th on the Road to Mallorca Rankings, Mory is hopeful of getting the job done and securing his playing status for the first time on Golf's Global Tour.

“I have been on the Challenge Tour since 2020 and I am getting closer every season. I played in the Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final every year. I finished 30th last year and all I can do now is do my best and see what happens.

“I have been very consistent and played better than last season. I missed a few events at the start of the season in South Africa because of Emile’s birth. My scoring average has improved but I just haven’t had a high finish yet.

“The top spots are where you get the most points and hopefully, I can get a high finish in the next two weeks,” said Mory.

The inaugural Hangzhou Open is the penultimate event on the 2024 Challenge Tour season. The top 45 players on the Road to Mallorca Rankings after the Hangzhou Open will tee up at next week’s Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final supported by the R&A where they will battle to finish inside the top 20 to secure their cards on the DP World Tour.
