Eagle sends Homa soaring

Max Homa moved into the outright lead on Moving Day, thanks largely to an eagle from the bunker at the tenth. The World Number Eight had overcome a tricky start which left him one over through four but his effort from the sand, as well as birdies on the fifth and 14th, left him one clear on 13 under par heading into the final round. “I wasn't swinging it so well to start, I was a bit scrappy,” said Homa. “I didn't hole anything putting wise but I made a nice bunker shot for eagle on ten which helped because I couldn't get the ball to go into the hole. It was one of those feeder bunker shots: if you land it short it's going to run, if you land it long it will spin. So I took a 56 and just played a low skidding one and it came off really good. It was one of the fun ones where 12 feet out you don't know how it could miss so those are the ones you like to have.”

Double chip joy for Olesen

Thorbjørn Olesen made not one but two chip-ins as the Dane propelled himself into contention. He sits in a tie for third on 11 under par, after chipping in from rough beside the second green before repeating the trick at the eighth. “I can't remember when I last chipped in so nice to have two in one round,” he said. “Both of them were pretty perfect. A really tricky one on the second but I hit it great and it just dropped in. They were both excellent and very pleased.”

Bradbury produces great escape...

The scorecard says Dan Bradbury made a par four on the 15th but that does not tell the full story. His drive looked like it must result in a lost ball when it disappeared into the bush but he caught his first break by finding it, managed to muscle it to some rough by the fairway, got his third on the green and holed a 25 footer.
