The Hero Challenge is back, with three of the world’s best in a nearest-the-pin competition with a difference ahead of the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.
In the third Hero Challenge of 2022, we tasked Tyrrell Hatton, Viktor Hovland and Shane Lowry to try and bounce their tee shot off a specially created backboard behind the green at Jumeirah Golf Estates, attempting to hit the perfect spot from 110 yards away in order for the ball to bounce, land on the green and roll on the required line towards the hole.
Some agonisingly close attempts drew some entertaining reactions from three of the liveliest characters in golf, who share 14 DP World Tour wins between them, as they navigated the highs and lows of an emotional rollercoaster before a winner was declared.
Let’s see who came out on top…
This year, there have been three Hero Challenges from three locations across the DP World Tour calendar. Each feature some of the best and brightest players in the world in a short-form social and digital video output, which will be supplemented by a more in-depth ‘behind-the-scenes’ broadcast show from each event.
The first Hero Challenge of 2022 saw Rory McIlroy, Collin Morikawa and Tyrrell Hatton take on one of the most difficult challenges we’ve ever attempted – hitting a one-yard-wide fairway at the drag strip at Yas Marina Circuit ahead of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship. In the second, we tasked Rafa Cabrera-Bello, Ryan Fox and Joost Luiten to try and recreate Miguel Angel Jimenez’s ridiculously impressive albatross on the 17th hole at Valderrama in 1994.
