The Road to Mallorca returns after a two-week break for the sixth edition of the Euram Bank Open, held at Golf Club Adamstal. Here’s everything you need to know for the week ahead.
A visual spectacle
Situated in the lower Austrian Alps, Golf Club Adamstal is a uniquely stunning venue that has been voted ‘Austrian Golf Course of the Year’ on several occasions.
The Championship course was designed by renowned architect Jeff Howes and features heavily tree lined holes that utilise many natural features of the area – including streams, slopes, and rocky outcrops – to add character and difficulty.
Feature holes include the breathtaking par four tenth, which is the highest point on the course and offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, and the short par three 19th, which is often used by to decide the outcome of a match.
Famous founder
Golf Club Adamstal was founded in 1995 by Franz Wittmann, a famous rally driver who has won Austria’s national championship on 12 occasions and now operates as Club President.
Wittmann, who served as the President of the Austrian Golf Association from 2006-2013, has been passionate about golf ever since he first watched the sport on television and was motivated to found the course in his birthplace in Adamstal to help grow the game in his native country.
Rankings taking shape
The Euram Bank Open is the 15th of 29 events on the 2024 Road to Mallorca, marking the midpoint of the season.
Dane Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen remains in pole position on the season-long Rankings with 1,061 points, 75 points ahead of Englishman John Parry in second. Spaniard Joel Moscatel, who won the Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge to join Neergaard-Petersen and Parry in the two-time winner’s club, lies third on 870 points.
The leading trio hold a commanding lead over the chasing pack, with Frenchman Alex Levy lying fourth on 606 points and Dane Hamish Brown 40 points adrift in fifth.
