Young star enjoys home comforts

Lev Grinberg is having a DP World Tour debut to remember. The 14-year-old amateur attracted huge crowds as he produced an extraordinary 69 on Friday to make the cut at his home course. The young Ukrainian began the tournament with a one-under-par 70 on Thursday and impressed again on day two, carding five birdies and three bogeys to head into the weekend on three under par. He said: "I played amazing! I can’t wait to play tomorrow and Sunday. It’s so nice to play good and make the cut on my home course, and hopefully grind out as many birdies as I can and hopefully get top ten, that is my goal this weekend." Well done Lev.

Syme's five-star start

Connor Syme made a lightning-quick start to his second round thanks to a hot putter. The Scot opened up with five birdies in a row to propel himself into contention. A mixed back nine saw him sign for a 70, which takes him into the weekend on four under par.

Schmid grateful for caddie's local knowledge

Matti Schmid looked like he knows the course like the back of his hand as he fired a 64 - the lowest round of the week so far - on Friday. But the truth is this is his first visit to Rinkven International Golf Club and he has been relying on his caddie's knowledge of the course. He said: "We only played 18 holes for a practice round and he knows the course well and that is definitely an advantage." The German sits alongside English duo Dale Whitnell and Sam Horsfield at the top of the leaderboard on eight under par.

No putter needed for Wu

Wu Ashun came up short of the green at the par-four 11th but that didn't matter as he holed his second shot for a bounce-back eagle which cancelled out the double bogey he carded on the previous hole.
