Rasmus Højgaard voted Golfer of the Month
Rasmus Højgaard won the August award with 57% of the vote after topping off a brilliant UK Swing with victory at the ISPS HANDA UK Championship.
The 19 year old Dane picked up the second victory of his rookie season in dramatic fashion at the iconic Belfry venue. A final round 65 secured his place in a playoff against Justin Walters, and a par at the second extra hole was enough to earn a second title in just his 15th start on Tour. Højgaard’s latest win added to an impressive August resume that already included a tied 6th at the Hero Open and a 3rd place finish in the English Championship.
Sam Horsfield came in second place with 25% for the public vote after winning both the Hero Open and Celtic Classic. Two wins in three weeks was also enough to get him a spot in the U.S. Open, courtesy of the mini Order of Merit.
Fan favourite Andy Sullivan finished in third after returning to the winner’s circle for the first time since 2015, winning the English Championship with a final score of 27-under par.
Rounding off the voting was former British Amateur Champion Romain Langasque, who won the ISPS HANDA Wales Open after a sensational final round 65 in difficult conditions throughout the week in Wales.
